Smart, to me, means a dog that is willing to please their master. That's a Golden. Cats? My grandson just got a Golden pup..he has cats no problem. My Grizz was good around my cat when I had him. And..heck no on prey drive..at least not after my chickens. None of them..all three were good.

They are sweet, gentle, kind, highly trainable, get along with other animals. The only down side is the hair, but duh, I have two Shelties!
