Ohhhh. Hmm. Do they use a knife? Or lasers? You may not even see it when it happens, you may just see flashes of light. Hang on, I'll check it out.

Here's what I found, Granny.

Seeing instruments coming towards their eyes can be a source of worry for many patients. I always reassure my patients that they will not see devices coming towards them during cataract surgery.

I also found that they do use lasers more often than scalpels these days. It's safer, there's less risk of infection, no stitches are required, and healing is faster.
