Prices have stabilized now. Covid sure did a number on a lot of things. More folks are finally working too. Takes time to recoup. Yes, the garden helps. I especially love my tomatoes. The yellow crookneck makes a great side dish. A son makes a really good dish with the zucchini. I need to get his recipe. My son here says so. It is good.

I hope they haven't stabilized this high for long. Potatoes were almost $8 for 5 lbs this weekend. Now that was for gold ones but at gold prices. Plain russet were around $6.50 for 5lbs. Steaks that we don't buy were $15 for ribeyes.

California folks are flocking to our state. It's caused houses to go up. Good for me..mine's now worth half a mil..younger folks on the other hand aren't able to afford a home. Plus Apts have gone sky high. People from California are saying that to buy a three bedroom home here is cheaper than buying a real run down one bedroom there. Our food prices are better too. Our gas is cheaper..well everything is. Sad.

I had a can of tomato soup for dinner. I saved the 2 pieces of bread for Robert to make a sandwich. I passed a fruit stand today craving a tomato but the little bit of change in the bottom of my wallet wasnt enough to buy one. Nothing stable about that.

Last week i got gas in Danville around $3.15. Today i went to Walmart in Altavista ( usually has good prices. ) gas was $3.55! I didn't buy any, since i am going to Danville Thursday.

Gas is about $3.30 for us. I dread the thought of chicken feed doubling in price.
