Anyway, Granny, have you ever had red grapefruit, or just the yellow? Ruby Red is really sweet and juicy. Much better than yellow, IMO.

What's really better about red grapefruit is not so much the taste if you were blindfolded but the amount of Vitamin A they have over white (yellow) grapefruit. We had a pink at home and several what are known as Duncan grapefruit. Very large white grapefruit full of seeds and full of flavor. My dad would not plant a seedless grapefruit true and sacrifice the flavor of a Duncan. Most consumers will without a taste test.

I had one earlier in the week. A red seedless. Can't buy a Duncan at any price now anywhere. First one in over a year. They are in season now. Time to find some.

I'd like to have a dwarf grapefruit tree in a green house here. It wouldn't take much in a coldframe house here to survive. Heat maybe 3-6 nights a year. I ordered some but they never came or they came and they died before they got planted????? Just don't remember. All my citrus growing outside was killed last winter after 3 nights of 15° temps. Wasn't ready to protect them from the cold and wasn't strong enough to frame them in.

There is a small nursery here in town and I think I'll pay them a visit Saturday morning and see if they have any contacts for grapefruit trees now. Last season they didn't. All the nursery stock they had access to got kill during that bad season of freezing weather in TX.... The Ice Age Returned.

I have 4 windows side by side in my back room I would love to grow some dwarf fruit in there. It gets most the day sun.

Next time you get a bottle look at the paper that comes with it from the pharmacy. That may be where I saw it in writing. My doc also told me to avoid grape fruit.
