What used to be cheap staples are becoming expensive. A can of spam costs how much now? I haven't looked lately but I saw it a year ago and it wasn't cheap. Nothing seems to be inexpensive anymore. We are saving receipts now and tracking where the money goes at the grocery store. We can't budget without knowing the best place to spend to get the most out of every dollar.

I'm going to try and grow sweet potatoes next year too. We used to and grew a lot of them. Wife cans them. Freezes a few already cooked.

The other thing I really want a lot of next spring is beets. We love pickled beets. Harvard beets too. Wife will want some of those wide Roma beans too. We will barter more next season with our eggs for things others grow that we might not be able to.

I had a can of tomato soup today. Im not hungry but Im expecting my sugar to drop.

My fasting sugar this morning was 160, the highest it's ever been. I don't know why. I thought it would be getting lower now that I have been walking every day. I like it to be around 112 or so.

I have metformin but I forget to take it. Reckon I otter ...

It would be nice to have a dozen hens for eggs. With a rooster meat wouldn't be a problem with a cheap incubator to have a lot of chicken for meat. I don't have any idea what can be done to help with the food bill.
