Has anyone tried pine shavings in nest boxes ?? If so how did that work out. TIRED of filthy eggs.

What are you using? We use shredded paper from the bank. It's free, doesn't breed bugs, clean and easy to transport, wicks moisture, poop falls to the bottom. Have used it for years, great stuff. But it's white.

I used it. I thought everyone did. As long as you have a good lip on the front it works good.

then I will pick up a bag tomorrow before going to the farm. Nice deep nest boxes have I.

Been using hay as that is free as well. Which works great IF you change relatively often and collect eggs more than once a day.

I hardly ever change this. I just add more once in a while when it packs down a bit.

I don't get lice or mites, Twist. It's not "organic" enough to attract them.
