Granny's gone and done it again

I planted a little mint garden a couple years ago, right by the house, and it's fenced so the chickens can't get to it. Every spring I harvest a bunch of the leaves and dry them in the food dryer and put them up in jars. And that's about all the gardening I can manage, between my lack of energy and the chickens taking over the big garden ... if I try to start a garden I poop out mid- summer and it goes to weeds. I hope this year to really do well with the lilies, though! I hope we got them in the ground soon enough.
Grew mint this past year. Grows like a weed. I'm sure it will come up on its own this year.

Some people advise planting it in a pot and planting the pot in the ground, so it doesn't take over. But I WANT mine to take over and try to keep the weeds out of my little patch. So far they are about evenly matched. A word to the wise, though: Do NOT plant catnip. Anywhere. Ever! Ever hear of the plant that swallowed Chicago? For my money, it was probably catnip.
