l get woke up every day. I have roosters outside the bedroom window wanting fed at daylight. :rant
I think that's to be expected if you have roosters that aren't locked in a coop, once they know where you live, Larry! :lau

We came THIS close to losing a hen today. I'd had an eye on her for a few days, it's one of my OG partridge EEs. She's been isolating herself a bit at snack time, holding back and not getting any or very much treats, and today when we got home from church she was sitting on the bottom of the back steps by herself like she was sunning herself, which was odd. She moved but later we saw her again, just sitting by herself. I picked her up easily (odd) and realized her keel bone was very prominent so I got a glove and examined her. She had a dirty bum and her stool was a deep, dark green, like they get when they're starving. We put her in a crate with food, water and grit. To our surprise she started eating immediately. I wonder if she's been being bullied away from food rather than being ill. We put the crate in the wellhouse with the light on and will keep an eye on her. We'll save her if we can.

Thanks, Cap. We have another hen with a dirty bum and bad diarrhea. She's also one of my OG and I think we will probably put her down. Her droppings are clear liquid with a bit of urate, and slimy. She's acting okay. I had hoped it would resolve itself. It belatedly occurred to me that this could spread to the rest of the flock via the rooster. Any ideas what this might be? So far she's the only one....

Possibly pasty butt. I have heard of people giving female fungal remedies by mouth to sick hens. I would also do warm baths with Epsom salts when they get messy. Soak about 20 minutes. You can bathe them in a storage tub and make a hole in the lid for them to stick their heads out. I find they generally like it. Good luck.

If it's decently warm tomorrow I shall. I don't think it got much above 34 today but felt much colder with the wind chill. I will give her some Monistat cream, I forgot about that. Thanks. Maybe some yogurt too?

This is for @twisted-acres-farm when he shows up. Twist, you were asking about my Sapphire Gems. I got these from Hoover's and "The cross used for its creation is a heritage Blue Plymouth Rock and a hybrid Barred Plymouth Rock" I believe. Well I guess this is how we share links now! Grr. I hate updates!:duc

Maybe do the yogurt when you're done treating?
