Granny's gone and done it again

Grr! I found another hen eating an egg this morning. This time it was Wiinnie, one of my favorites. She is only 9 months old. :barnie I do NOT need my hens doing this! I was worried they might start doing this when I was getting jelly eggs (when there was a snake out there) but I haven't seen soft or shell-less eggs in a couple of weeks ... why are they doing this NOW??? :he
What percent protein is your feed?

The grill is getting help from the sun as the temp on the porch is 98°. When I was a kid I hated the heat in this part of the country because there was no AC in the houses and kids had to play under the houses to find a cool spot along with the dogs.
I well remember the days of summer with no air conditioning. We had a little oscillating fan about a foot in diameter that we'd sit around waiting for it to turn back in our direction. Then my dad brought home a big fan that would about blow you out of the house if you got in front of it. But mostly I remember staying down on the creek that was the boundary of our property on two sides. It was deep and wide and always had at least a little water flowing. It had huge cottonwood trees on each side for a good length of it so it was nice and shady and oh, so much cooler. Had to watch out for water moccasin but that was just part of it. I spent the first ten years of my life on that place. Sure did miss it for a long time.when we moved away.

What’s abouts was that place. ?

South of Ft. Worth is Burleson. We were about eight miles southeast from there. It was the boondocks back in the 50's.
With the introduction of AC the area of FL that was boondocks back in the 50's there is now a lot of concrete jungle. Townhouses so there is no place for kids to play out doors. A real mess now.
