I well remember the days of summer with no air conditioning. We had a little oscillating fan about a foot in diameter that we'd sit around waiting for it to turn back in our direction. Then my dad brought home a big fan that would about blow you out of the house if you got in front of it. But mostly I remember staying down on the creek that was the boundary of our property on two sides. It was deep and wide and always had at least a little water flowing. It had huge cottonwood trees on each side for a good length of it so it was nice and shady and oh, so much cooler. Had to watch out for water moccasin but that was just part of it. I spent the first ten years of my life on that place. Sure did miss it for a long time.when we moved away.
