Granny's gone and done it again

I love mine. Usually only have to use vibrate on him now. I actually rarely even use it anymore at all cause we haven’t been off leash lately. Anyway, love it. Mine was a lot more expensive though LOL I had a cheap one from TSC but it didn’t work for us for various reasons so I switched to a different one. Nothing wrong with the cheap ones though for most dogs.
I have a device that makes a sound only they can hear. Well, Austin says he can hear it up close. My dogs do not like it.

OMG What a bunch of asshats. I know how much you cared for them and all the work and effort you put in making them good dogs. I'm so sorry. :hugs Not sure I could of done what you were faced with. I hate to see a dog cower in fear when called. I know what you mean, Ive seen it. I would dare to see one of theirs come into your yard!
I wasn't putting myself down this morning. I actually didn't know that came from the bible. Just something Ive heard all my life. Too bad you couldn't have your place fenced, I would adopt 30 of the loudest dogs I could find!!

I had a whistle but didn't know I couldn't get up by myself til it was too late. Not sure how he would help me anyway. Can't pull me by my arms.
I used to be with the Humane Society. One day back in the 90's I was parked outside a home waiting for Austin to finish up piano lessons. I noticed a couple of ladies visiting with a lab looking dog walking around them. All of a sudden I hear a man yelling at the dog to .. come here! The dog immediately went and stood by one of the women with its head down. The man started yelling more, taking steps toward the dog and pointing to the ground..come! Get over here! Dog cowards more so. Finally he got to the dog, grabbed his collar and picked his whole front end up dragging him towards home. I jumped out of my car and yelled at him. Hey! Stop dragging him! No wonder that dog won't come to you. Of course he got mad at me..still holding the dog up by the collar who by this time was choking and gagging. I said put him down, your choking him. He says things..I'm not hearing ..I'm just livid. I then tell him I'm with the Humae Society and if he doesn't put him down I'll be calling authorities. He's in front of his house, let's the dog down, yells at him to get in there, pointing to the garage. Dog hurries into the garage. The man following. 😡

When I was training, everybody in my community knew me. I was checking out at the grocery one day and the checker said, "You're that dog trainer aren't you? Can you train my dog to come to me when I call him?" I said, "How do you call him now?" He looked around and then goes, in a gruff and bossy voice, "GET OVER HERE RIGHT NOW!" I said, "If a dog went "WAW WAWA WAH, WAH WAH!" (in the same tone he had just used), would you want to get near it?" He looked shocked then thoughtful, then sheepish. "No, I guess I wouldn't," he admitted. "I can't train your dog to come to you," I said. "But I can teach you how to train your dog to come to you." And I gave him my card.

I know your dogs were highly trained. No dogs are allowed to roam free here. Of course we have tons of strays, the dog pound is overflowing, people trying to rehome very nice dogs a lot of people just can’t afford to feed their families much less a pet. Vet care is so expensive, no one can afford it.
There are anti-tether and anti-pen laws here. You have to meet a certain strict criteria if you want to be "legal" to the full extent of that law. As far as I know it's not heavily enforced, but can be if someone wants it to be.
Generally everyone expects their dogs to stay at home, but as life happens and male dogs reach maturity they will roam unless tethered or penned, even more so if they smell a female in heat a mile away.
We've had problems with people really trying to pick up dogs from people's houses and taking them to the local shelter because they thought they were doing the dogs a favor.

@troyer maybe you need a sign with the quote "Do good unto all people especially those of the house hold of faith" on it in large print to where they cab read it as they pass by. You need something that will throw a guilt trip on them and make them think about what they are doing that is wrong. Down right sinful.
I think it would anger them, especially the trouble makers.
There is a general attitude of "I won't take anything off of you because you left the faith", the faith being the amish lifestyle. The vast majority in this area don't care whether I'm right with God, they only care that we left the amish faith.
Don't get me wrong though because there are those that are friendly and caring towards us, it's just not the general rule.
In most of their minds it's far worse to leave the amish faith than it is to live in sin.
