We used to get a lot of Apple Brown Betty in the school cafeteria. Wish we had a recipe for that. One of the servers married my FIL after he had lost his first 3 wives and she was supposed to get us the recipe but never did.

I love lumpy mashed potatoes. I know they are real and not that powdered stuff.

Sounds like it looks like chocolate pudding... It's the taste that counts not the color. We kept a kid for a few weeks once that would not taste anything green. Nothing at all. She deprived herself of a lot of good nutrition doing that.

Growing up I thought lumpy mashed potatoes just meant you didn't cook the potatoes soft enough and I disliked it, till I met someone who mashed a whole bowl of potatoes for company with a fork because he wanted to make sure there are lumps in them. Now I don't hate lumps so much anymore!

It's just the opposite of making potato salad with a little bit of the potatoes smooth.
