Granny's gone and done it again

IDK how long I slept but it was a while. Trying to keep Tom down is like trying to wrestle a grasshopper. He is in his room now searching for who knows what. He's not gonna stop til he breaks a hip. He gets mad if I fuss and that's not like him at all. :(

He needs to be in a home that can manage him.
You're going to get hurt again going on like this, and then he will end up in one anyway.
At least if you can regain your own health you'll be able to visit him. But if YOU break a hip, you won't even be able to go see him.

No pumpkins today at the farmers market. The ones at the supper market were so high a pie from them would cost nearly $10. I think those IL pie pumpkins that are more the shape of a long watermelon will suffice for this year. If I come across that video of the commercial pie pumpkins I'll post it.

Changing the subject or redirecting works often for them.
In most cases. In my experience, both professionally and personally, if the person with dementia is aggressive and violent you can redirect till you are blue in the face but you better be ready to duck while you are at it.

Granny. Granny. Granny. Hugs to you my dear lady. I agree 200% with Cynthia. Hospice would be a blessing for all of you. I had it for my dad. When I had to put him back in the nursing home because he was declining and not safe to leave alone while I worked and the help I was getting from my family was minimal at best because he 'had a life'. I worked with Harbor Light Hospice services
and was on friendly terms with their nurses so I told them that when my father began to decline more, weight loss in spite of eating, loss of cognitive function, etc, I was putting him on hospice so he could have more intensive care than the staff at the nursing home could give him along with medications that would make him be able to sleep better and combat anxiety.

They did a fantastic job and took excellent care of him. He was on hospice for over a year before he passed peacefully in his sleep. 94 years old. We should all be so blessed. I can't recommend Harbor Light more.

It's raining here. First time in over a month. FINALLY. Even the chickens were enjoying the steady showers we are getting today. Not only are they ridiculous looking from molting but they are wet and molting which redefines the definition of ridiculous. They are also calling for more seasonable temps next week, upper 60s and mid 70s. I'm ready for it.

Granny I also wanted to add. Do you have any experience with 'baby monitors'? They are fantastic. I used one for my mom. The microphone unit sits by the bed and the receiver is where you want it. Living room, bedroom etc. You hear every move they make and if your loved one needs help they can get it easily by talking to the microphone unit.

There are also 'fall alarms' available that you hook up with one part pinned to the bed and the other part to the potential 'faller'. The key unit that is attached to the 'faller' is tethered to the 'alarm' by a cord so if the person wearing it tries to stand, they will pull the key out of the alarm and the alarm will go off.

Handy little devices.

I can't keep up with you guys!
Today was the big swap in Glen Allen, VA. I am down to three chickens and 4 goats. Am so very tired from all that driving, lifting, and carrying goats and stuff. Might have to take a nap.
Sounds like a profitable day anyway! :highfive:
Sell that he-goat, didja?
