Granny's gone and done it again

Friends and family in Florida. One son is evacuating, he may stay with his brother. Which may not be much better.
Prayers for safety.
@microchick mercy woman, you've had some challenges! Hope things get better for you. Was this a metal can the mouse chewed through? That's amazing, whod'a thunk of such a thing? What a mess, so sorry. And that cat food! 🤢 Yeah I'd be kicking heads and taking names too. Gag.

@CapricornFarm, I've been thinking about you. Didn't think you were in the danger zones but I've been hoping that you and yours are all okay, especially since you live by a river.

I tell ya, this is one of those times I'm really glad that we are landlocked and all we have to worry about are blizzards, ice storms and the rare tornado. We almost retired to Florida, Sebring area. Still sorry we didn't about the time January rolls around.

Have any of you ever heard of a mouse chewing through cooking oil containers? I discovered one did today putting groceries away in the back up pantry in the shop. Had it for 6 years at least, the back up pantry not the oil. Man did I walk into a mess. Oil everywhere and two containers with 3 mm holes chewed in them. I'm still cleaning up oil which ain't fun. Moved the oil into the kitchen, put out mouse bait. Going to keep the ruined oil for emergency lamp oil but man. Those mice must be getting desperate.
We are not far as the crow flies from the river, but we are up on a plateau. Usually the road to town may flood, or power might go out. Not expecting any problems here from the storm in the Gulf.
Parts of Florida are under mandatory evacuation. The main highway north is bumper to bumper.

Prayers for safety.

No, they were bottles of Wesson oil, one canola, one vegetable blend in plastic bottles. The funny thing, and maybe the saving factor of the mess not being worse than it was was the fact that the holes were at the 'shoulders' of the bottles so only about 2 inches drained out of the bottles. Now why the little rodent chose to chew on them up there instead of from the shelf level I don't know but believe me I'm glad it did.

The cattle dogs helped me. Some of the oil dripped down the sides of DH's muck boots and they busied themselves licking it off for me. Hey, I'll take all the help I can get!

On top of everything else, DH had his latest round of skin cancer surgery, this time on his hand. He has one more lesion on his hand and another on his back before he is done for this round. Remember guys just because it's fall, don't get lax. Cover up outside or wear sunscreen.

Yeah, it's been a fun week. Considering what folks have been going through out on the coast though I guess we are pretty lucky.

aren't those fried things that Southerner's eat ??
Nope, I believe you are thinking of chitlins? Fried pork rinds or something like that? 🤷‍♀️

Oops, no, I'm wrong. From Wikipedia:

Chitterlings (/ˈtʃɪt(ər)lɪŋz/), sometimes spelled chitlins or chittlins, are the large intestines of domestic animals. They usually come from pigs, but are also made from cow, lamb, goose and goat.
