Granny's gone and done it again

She was caught in that awful traffic last night that was Northbound out of St. Petersburg, FL. She finally arrived here about noon.

We could hear them going past on I-75 ALL night long. We usually can't hear the highway much from here. I had my window open and kept hearing the woosh woosh woosh (kept me from sleeping). Apparently the traffic was backed up past (north) of us here in Ocala.

Everyone was asking why they didn't open both sides of the highway.

They are lucky they have a governor with a brain.

You mean like allowing insurance companies to more than double the rates?
All while they paid him more than $3.9 million?

Insurance in FL is more than three times the national average.
Despite the fact that the insurance market is national.
“The premiums paid in one state do not pay out the claims in that state. Insurers operate on a national scale. You can think about the way they set their premiums as safer people cross-subsidizing riskier people.”

Among other changes, in 2022 he made it more difficult for homeowners to sue their property insurance companies for acting in “bad faith” and removes the right of homeowners to recover attorney’s fees, even in lawsuits they ultimately win.

He also shortened the window in which policy holders can file claims with their insurers, and invested $1 billion of taxpayer funds into a state-run reinsurance fund to help insurance companies mitigate their losses in the event of catastrophic events

And it's not just homeowners insurance. My car insurance went up by $40 / month this year.... despite the fact I have a clean driving record, a car with all the safety features, and the car has gotten older and depreciated in value.

This is all overwhelming. I need time to think it over I guess. I came across some info that to me is disturbing. The problem finding my surgeon all boils down to this new insurance.First thing they did was take my heart meds away. Refusing to ok Drs orders and who knows what else. they are making everyone 55 and up on Medicaid to take this pathways insurance. It reminds me of cattle being led to the slaughter house. follow the money.
You don’t have a choice in your supplemental ins?

Follow your instincts. You are a smart woman. You are NOT your own boss on government assistance and it feels near impossible to get back on your feet even though that was the program it was first meant to be, a crutch in the time of need but over the years it's become more of a trap
.Sorry for being blunt, but I don't want you getting stuck with something you wish you hadn't done.
All I can say is even lawyers ask each other for advice so they aren't held accountable for giving incorrect advice. And I've gone to the welfare office to disprove advice I got from the lawyer. She was wonderful but there are many gray areas that one office will say it's fine and the next office will deny you coverage.
Don't do anything that In the long run will make it more difficult for you.
If you put the house in his name now, and you continue living with him, you will have to pay rent or help him with the bills. This can get him denied for benefits.
Its hard for me to not share some warnings for you from my experience but this is a public forum. I will say, if things don't feel right to you, don't do it. Think it through.
This isn't the 1990s,80s or 70s.
Thank you. I am listening. Things are bad in calif. They want us all to be wards of the state so they can dictate what we can get for healthcare. And force mandatory vaccine policies on us. And deny medication which we need. It is very overwhelming.

Did the governor do all this by executive order?

Yes I feel your pain. Because of wild fires here in calif they just are not insuring certain areas for any fire damage. People cannot get fire insurance on their homes.

Sounds like I do not want to move to florida.

I guess you can vote him out

The power of voting is not in one person (who definitely will) but in the many.
And when you have a population that is not evenly multigenerational due to the retirement population from other states, it's very difficult to represent the working-age people in that state.
Everyone I've ever known within 30 years of my own age is really fed up with the dictators in FL. You could tell them to move away but then there would be no working population.

He pushed the legislature (his cronies) to put it on the table, helped draft the legislation, and signed it into law.
Absolutely hammering the homeowners across FL.
Maybe he wants people to stop moving there. I have friends here in Calif that moved to Florida. They seem to like it.

We moved out of FL twice.
