Chick I wanted to give the top part of this a happy heart for the wonderful dr you described. But I gave the bottom half a sad face for the loss of your sweet roo.Night @Nomadicus. Have a good one.
I worked for about 8 months as a temporary nurse. One of my assignments was 2 days working for a Pain Clinic doctor in central IL. My home town in fact. This lady was amazing. She had a patient who had such severe reactions to pain medicines and even more severe degenerative disc disease that she was in constant pain. One after noon the doctor took me back to her office and showed me her weekend's work. 3 pages of a spiral notebook, front and back, filled with equations. She had set and calibrated dosages of 3 different pain medications in exact dosages that she could give this poor person so they could have a degree of pain relief.
Dedicated? You bet she was. If I could have gone to work for her permanently I would have jumped on the job like a duck on a June bug.
Point is, there are doctors out there willing to do the work and deal with their patients in a compassionate manner.
@Granny Hatchet don't give up. You matter.
I made the tough decision tonight to cull my blind rooster. He was showing less and less interest in anything around him, laid in his cage most of the day, only standing occasionally. When I picked him up and set him back down he would just roll over on his side and put his head down. It suddenly hit me that I wasn't doing him any favors expecting him to live in such small quarters. When I set his cage down on the floor and the other chickens came up to the cage he didn't react at all other than raising his head a bit. I hated doing it. Elvis was a pet. When I moved his cage in with the main coop he seemed happy, crowing and moving about. It was as if he had given up. So I said goodbye to him and told my husband I should never let them become pets.....and then picked up my favorite little bantam boy and gave him a good cuddle.......
Do you have any aspirin?Dammit! DH got his flu and covid shots today and is going to be under the wx for a day or two. GC is asleep. I just don't need this right now. On a scale of 1-10 my discomfort is ... maybe a little over 3.
