Granny's gone and done it again

If it helps anything Tom and I both have lumps too . He has to take medicine. Synthroid. I didn't need anything. I did some reading on that machine. I like the thought of the things being hand done and not from a computer. That's where the skill shows.
But it takes brains and skill using a CNC. Plus a lot of imagination. Would you make a sign by hand just to show of skill? Would you pay a whole lot more for a hand made sign that was inefficient to make? Those CNC's are only as good as the brains using them.... After all a computer is dumb. They can only count by 1's and 0's are are basically a box of rocks. It's the electrical engineers that make them that are smart as well as those who write the programs to make them work. Yup, I studied computer science. I and my brother were computer programmers as well as both my two sons and his two sons. :woot:woot

I read it takes great skill and math. Guess Im just old fashion this way but I think I rather see a flaw in the wood knowing someone put a lot of time and effort in. I understand it must take great effort as well to use the machine but they should all be the same with no blemish compared to a one of a kind unique piece. :idunno

I know you are a very smart person and I bet you are very proud of your children. I would be too. Not many can do that stuff and that's why they can make up to $50. an hour doing it!

2 of the six make closer to $150 an hour.... One of those lets you sleep better at night.... That's all I can tell you about what he engineers.

The CNC is not about perfection is is about being efficient. The wood is flawed. One wooden chair made a week or 10 a day? Not everyone can afford to pay a living wage to have hand made chairs. That's what CNC's do. They let common wage owners afford nice things in life.

I understand and WOW!!! $150. an hour? I never heard of such! Amazing. Is it your son or nephew? You cant tell me because its top secret?

I think the most I ever made was $9.00 an hour. That's been a long while back.. Factory work. I have forgotten what machine I was on. Drill press maybe.
My favorite job was heavy duty sewing machines. Made tarps, sides of tractor trailers, repaired flags and whatever came my way. I loved my job , the owner and the small crew of workers there. Oh. it was called Macon tent and awning. (Ga.)
