My whole upstairs was maroon when I moved in. With heavy lined beige drapes. Not a drop of sunlight could get in. The ceiling was painted "beige" too. Nicotine beige. It looked like the ceiling of an old pub. I had the walls painted a beautiful celery green, some of them white and the ceiling white. It took about five coats.

Pictures come down. No towels are supposed to be up. We clear everything when folks come to look. Counters are clear.
