Granny's gone and done it again

Terrible day. Tom is completely out of it. He thinks he is in Mi. and getting ready to go bowling. He was some kinda mad at me because I wouldn't dress him and take him home. He keeps trying to take his tubes out and get up on his own and I wouldn't let him. He called me a "female dog" and tried to take a swing at me. Seeing things that's not there like ants in the bed and spiders on his hand. Women standing behind me as well. He was really mad when I went home w/o him. His nurse has had to stay bedside all day.
I'm sorry granny :hugs I'm praying for both of you

Scott started seeing things too. We went to visit my sister's new headstone. I asked him..doesn't it look nice? He said yes, then pointed down at the side and said, the dog too.
Then one day he was eating lunch and looking out the door window and said, there goes a squirrel. We don't have squirrels here. :(

Husband before this one, died of leukemia in '04.

So sorry, Granny. Almost sounds like Parkinson's symptoms. So distressing, but ... you can't fix it. 😔 Wonder how @Cynthia12 dealt with this.

Good grief, farms! And if you'd been in the room at the time you'd have known all this on the spot! Grr, time for a new DDS. :smack
I tried so many dentists and they weren't taking new patients. That's why we ended up going so far. This is a 'medicaid' place and they have some DDS right out of school. The last DDS he saw was young but he was excellent. The rheumatologist is also new. After he saw him the second time, the insurance suddenly Said he isn't in network. They paid him the first time. They won't make us pay for the second visit but now he has to have another consult with a new rheumatologist, I have to get his X-rays and labs transferred. He can't get into a new place till March.
And the dentist wanted to get the go ahead 'reassurance' from the rheumatologist before she extracts teeth.
When I talked with the insurance company, they couldn't figure out what just happened and I was on a call with them and the rheumatologist all at the same time.
Did I just waste a whole lot of time or what?

I'm so sorry Granny, for both you and Tom. It's so tough on you and I know if Tom had a choice, he would never want to put you through this.

No, he wouldn't and he couldn't understand why I was yelling at him. I could see the hurt in his eyes. But he just wasn't all there. I have to wonder if its something they gave him. A drug making him act this way. Maybe I should let him come home.
It could very well be the Seroquel. I wonder at their choice of medication. Seroquel is VERY strong. I'm sure they have their reasons for giving him that specific medication but it makes you wonder why. I would feel the same way you do. Just fold your arms around him and hold him near....
Having so many unfamiliar people around him and having lost his routine aren't good for him either.
People like him need routine and quiet. And not be woken up at all hours of the night by nurses.

I know it can't be helped because he is at the hospital, but all those things can be affecting him

What are they doing for him there, Granny? Have they got his A-fib stabilized? (Atrial fibrillation).

Atrial fibrillation (sometimes called AFib) is one of the most common types of cardiovascular disease. When someone has this condition, their heart beats irregularly, usually faster than it should. This irregular heartbeat causes an ineffective blood flow from the heart’s upper chambers to the lower ones.

AFib can lead to deadly complications, such as heart failure, blood clots, and cardiac arrest.

Fortunately, medical researchers understand more about this condition than ever before, and treatment options are becoming more effective.
