I prepared 10 plates of Christmas leftovers for the freezer yesterday. There is still some mac and cheese and dressing in the fridge for us in the next couple of days. Homemade frozen dinners are better than store bought.

That's one thing you don't want to put off. Please find out now so when Tom is back home you can act on it. I don't think you need to have it paid off. The mortgage holder may can give you some good advice also. I'd still get an attorney. There are legal aid societies that can help also. Could even be one in Madison.
Don't assume Tom would need to sign off on getting Robert on the Mortgage. Please get an attorney to handle this while you still can for Robert's sake.
