How much did you pay for your lavender chicks?

$6 ea., and she threw in 4 extra (I bought 12). So $72 /doz. I ended up with 10 cockerels though!

There is a guy in redding that sells orpington eggs. I have had good results from his eggs

Oh thanks, but I have one now. Pippi passed away a couple years ago, but when I bought 3 chicks last spring one of them was a rooster. That was just luck. I also have a black copper marans rooster, and two is already too many for my small flock.

I don't know who you are asking but my lavender orpingtons were $6 and I got my buffs for $3 at the end of the batch. They were already 4 or 5 weeks old.

I've been spoiled by the CX we've raised. These EE were long-legged, rangy and not very meaty at all. Good for soup, not sandwiches!
