We've been having a persistent chirp. It doesn't bother me, but it bothers DH bad enough that he's ready to destroy something. When I sealed off the open stairway ceiling for winter, I put insulation over the carbon monoxide alarm. I wasn't worried because there's is another one at the bottom of the stairs. However, it didn't occur to me that the battery may need to be replaced. Rather then have DH yank down all the insulation, I open up a small area to remove it and sealed it back up. Betty was with me, the upstairs is cold. When I was finished they're was no Betty to be found. I called and called her and I could just imagine something fell on her and squashed her dead. I even went out in the yard to call her but no Betty. Butchy Boy was in the warm den and it occurred to me that he might be able to find her. He went straight to her- hidden in a corner behind a chair shaking violently! I felt just awful! The rooms that aren't heated are cold through and through
