I've been staying inside. I don't think it's more then 6". Most properties around here are too small to use a blower (in my opinion). I think I'd shovel faster then they blow but I guess it's not so hard on the back and joints. My right elbow has been complaining so I've been trying to sweep rather then shovel. I didn't mind if the corners aren't cleared out so well because each snow melted till the next one came. The parking lot I shovel, I don't want it building up from one snow to the next.
The road plow goes through only one time and he has a shovel that pushes all the snow to one side...to our side. That stuff shovels HARD. I like to move it the first day because if the sun starts melting it and then it freezes overnight. I may not be able to shovel it
I remarked to the neighbor man across the road, I think the plow hates me or is doing him a favor.
It looks like he scrapes the snow away from the neighbor man and piles it on my side but I guess it's because he only goes through once.
I've always liked shoveling snow, just not stuff that is dumped by the road plow

when I lived in Mi. and we got a big snow city would tell us we Have to get our cars off the street. That was ok for the lucky few that had a driveway but most didn't. If we didn't move they would cover the cars in snow and give you a ticket and if you did move they piled the snow up blocking you in the driveways. It was a no win situation.

when I lived in Mi. and we got a big snow city would tell us we Have to get our cars off the street. That was ok for the lucky few that had a driveway but most didn't. If we didn't move they would cover the cars in snow and give you a ticket and if you did move they piled the snow up blocking you in the driveways. It was a no win situation.

Around here they have a smallish truck with a smallish plow and he goes through the on the middle of the road- one direction only. When I moved here, I felt like I went back in time. The first thing I noticed is bills get paid with cash or checks. Not cards

Yes, once the plow moves it, it's like the snow after an avalanche - packed hard as concrete. Very hard to shift with a shovel. Do you throw salt on the ground where you've cleared so it won't freeze?

We have no plows here on our place, we're too isolated, but after we shovel I do throw salt down. I also shovel after every couple of inches of snowfall. Much easier to shift 2" three or four times than wait until 8" have fallen and try to shift it all at once! Especially a heavy, wet snow, ugh! (If you want to know how to do something done efficiently, ask a lazy person, lol!)

Most people don't have off Street parking. I made it parking lot and I did gravel. I didn't want problems with water run off. The Amish out here rent out equipment so I rented a smaller packer (like the road rollers) to pack it. And the grass is the kind of grass that they lay down in strips. The roots were all the same length. So I cut strips and it was easy to just roll up the sod. I was about a foot lower then the road. I laid my fabric down and ordered 2 loads of gravel. So far it's held up well. It's been a year.

I wasnt writing so many checks any more because DH had a hard time with instructions and I couldn't take chances with bounced accounts. For me it's easier with cash or card.

They are guessing 8 or more hours of snow Tuesday... For once I do hope they are guessing wrong.

That's how I've been doing but today it came down fast. The amount we got still isn't bad. I've got several strong brooms. I did wear out my cheap one
