Granny's gone and done it again

A glass of wine with dinner hurts no one most likely unless they learn to like it to the point they become an alcoholic.
Some people are born alcoholics. It's like an allergy. From the first drink they take, they can't resist. That's why it's considered a disease. But you don't know until you take that first drink and then it's too late.

I warned my kids, growing up. Three of their grandparents were alcoholics. But ... they had to learn for themselves. My son, like his paternal grandfather, started drinking at 15. Unlike his grandfather who died of the disease, he only drank for 30 years, then got with The Program and is sober today. For which I thank God.

Once upon a time a grade school teacher wanted to make an impression on her students about the dangers of drinking alcohol. She brought a bottle of booze to class one day and dropped a worm in the bottle. A few minutes later the worm was dead. She asked the class what they had learned. Little Johnny raised his hand and said, "If you drink that whiskey you won't have worms.". :) Never call on Little Johnny in class.
