Granny's gone and done it again

I hear Romeo crowing on the front porch. I also hear Juliet with him. Those two are inseparable. Juliet laid her second known egg today. She may have laid other in the scrub around the oak trees near her coop when I turned them out early. Romeo is a beautiful silkie satin dark red and black boy and Juliet is just a part silkie with a crest. She only has 4 toes.

Romeo sounds very beautiful. Are you planning on hatching any eggs from them?
Feel better Larry
Will not hatch her eggs as they are from the same rooster. I'll let her have some Cream Crested Legbar eggs if and when she goes broody. I think she can cover 4 and maybe 5. She is a petite little lady. She's grown accustomed to me picking her up and setting her down on the ground in the mornings instead of making her take the trek down the coop ramp.

I have a Cream Crested Legbar roo with our Sapphire Gems and plan on hatching some of those just to add a few layers to the Sapphire pen. We only have 5 Sapphire girls. I love them but am waiting to see just how well the live out their lives before getting more. They are so productive of a layer I'm concerned about future health problems they may have.

I finally crawled out of bed at 12:30pm. Missed seeing friends this morning as planned but after coughing a lot yesterday and no sleep last night I was in no shaped to be in close quarters with anyone. I do hope to see them Tuesday for a breakfast meeting.
That too bad, Larry. Hope you feel better soon.
