My GC wants to go out NOW, at 9 pm to meet a guy who lives 45 minutes away she's only met on line. I said, have him come here so we can meet him first. She said he has a bad tire. But the truth is she does not want him to meet us first. She said she's not 16 any more, she's 23 and "that's not how it's done any more." And I'm thinking, I don't know where this guy lives and he could be an axe murderer!

Am I out of line to want to meet him first? I know I can't make her bring him here, but ...? What do you all think?

Coming from someone who once flew to Dallas by myself to meet people I’d only met online, that sounds really dangerous. Of course in my situation it was a music thing and I’ve travelled to other states for others bands too but still. Not important. What’s important is I met them all during the DAY in PUBLIC places. Not late at night at their houses.

That said it could be completely fine!!!! Not trying to worry you. The people I met were all extremely nice!!!! Although one of them we ended not being friends anymore later on but still.

Coming from someone who once flew to Dallas by myself to meet people I’d only met online, that sounds really dangerous. Of course in my situation it was a music thing and I’ve travelled to other states for others bands too but still. Not important. What’s important is I met them all during the DAY in PUBLIC places. Not late at night at their houses.

Thanks. She's already had some scary experiences. I told her if I was single I wouldn't go haring off in the middle of the night to meet some stranger without letting her know where I was going to be or making sure she knew who I was going to be with. I watch the news!

Pray Blue. She's going to do what she wants at that age. I have married children that have made some pretty scary decisions. The world is so different now. Some of us can't help to imagine the worst..I'm right there with you.
