Granny's gone and done it again

Ouch! GC's slips to the side. It did it again last night. She ws in bed, she said she was just stretching when it happened. Dr said it would happen again and she will need surgery. At least she didn't scream this time!

Yes, that is your starting place or you can try your local dept of aging (yes, I hate that term). They can figure out if you qualify also. When I brought my father home to live with me after my mother's death I went to them to get him signed up for the program as his caregiver. They paid me to take care of him at home. Wages sucked but it helped me stay at home with him until they did away with the family caregiver program. In all honesty I don't know if they started that part up again but you might want to talk to them first and find out what you need to do in Missouri to get on the program for a homemaker to come in for you during the week. I was paid for 40 hours with my dad but they decide how much help you might need.

DH went out and took care of the chickens tonight all by himself. He did fantastic! The only ones who gave him any grief were the big chickens who screamed at him the entire time he was in their coop. He said something about hearing protection but I was very proud of him and told him I wouldn't worry about them now. I can just relax in my rocking chair in a narcotic fog and watch more TV than I have lately for a few days.

Thanks, Chick. Not sure about any of this. In NM Medicaid had a program where they would pay friends/ family to take care of their sick/ disabled, but Medicare did not. Don't know about MO, but we do not have Medicaid. Medicare only. I did that kind of caregiving for several years after my previous DH died, it kept me off the streets. But I freelanced at that time, did not work through an agency, just word of mouth referrals. I don't have friends or family that could work for me now, it would have to be someone working through an agency. If we have a Dept of Aging I don't mind them calling it that, lol. We start aging the minute we're born! We do have something called Aging Matters. I'll start with them. Thanks.
