I made it to church today for the first time in a couple of weeks. My eye feels better. No throbbing pain but still feels quite dry.

Kevin showed up here at 8am. I just remember hearing the lawn mower. He does this on his day off. His ONLY day off. He doesn't get all of it but he does a path around the house, part of the front and the dog area. He has to do the dog area with the push mower and the rest with my 18 year old sears riding tractor. I feel guilty he does this and no one else. He wont take $$.

Don't feel guilty, Granny! He is getting a blessing out of doing this for you. It is bringing him joy and satsfaction. I'd bet there were times when you were young that you did things for people who needed, and you would not accept money either. Now it's your turn, the shoe is on the other stick. One day he will be the one needing help. It's what makes the world go around, so accept it in good grace.

When I had a hen go broody while I was incubatng, I would put chicks under her. Always worked

Thanks, Cynthia, I will sure give it a try. These two mama hens did such a seamless job of integrating their chicks into the flock! I'd be happy if one of them can do it with more chickies. Is 13 too many? She's a big flooffy Orp type.

Agree with first statement!

I had an Orpington pullet and her first brood was 12 eggs. ALL hatched and survived until they went to new homes or the freezer. Then the Australorp pullet hatched 12 and all survived. Honestly I was under the impression not all eggs hatch so quite surprised when they did, twice! lol

It is raining. And thundering. I've given both Sammy and Jenny Benadryl-loaded cheese balls. Sammy's vibrating but he's between my knees, not on my chest or face, and Jenny's beside me on the floor, no longer anxiety-panting.
