One of two things. 1) contact them, tell them they inadvertently took a cooler that you wanted to keep and ask them if they could get it back to you ASAP as you use it and can't get any more like it.

Or 2) let them keep it and keep the peace in the family.

Frankly I prefer the first one as the second one is going to eat away at you till resentment builds up more and more.

A friend once told me that I let people walk on me rather than cause conflict by standing up to them.

She was right. One day she walked on me and I ended the friendship, or rather she did because I didn't let her walk on me.

Don't let people walk on you granny. If they love you and respect your wishes they will bring the cooler back. If they don't bring it back, you know where you really stand with them.

The thing I guess it was, They had it filled, they were walking out the door and I sure didn't want to slow them down..Its only styrofoam and she called to tell me that made it home ok. She made a a big pan of lasagna . I bought everything and they went and got it. I gave them $40. for gas to get home on. She had asked for 20 before they came. I told her her DH took it and she said she didn't know and she was sorry. On the other hand... Robert was pretty upset. He really liked the cooler and took good care of it and now we don't have one.

Nope, just a cheap Styrofoam. Sounds silly to me too but he is autistic and there's right from wrong and he stands on principal.

Its going to be a long time before their back this way again. Its been about a year I think since they were here last
