Granny's gone and done it again

Woke up to Thunderstorms this morning. Yesterday it was just plain HOT. DH and I got out on our cruiser motorcycle. Doc said I couldn't ride my dirt bike but he didn't say squat about riding 2 up with my sweet DH. We rode down to Macon where the HAM club there was setting up for field day. They do that once a year to bring awareness for emergency preparedness where HAM radio operators would be paramount to communication in the event of a disaster that would disrupt normal communication.

Got home about 1:30 then worked our own contacts with our radio. DH got more than I did but he doesn't have my short attention sp....oh LOOK! Something Sparkly!....wait a minute, what was I talking about?

Okay, serious now. Indwelling Foley catheters are more uncomfortable (generally during insertion) for men than women simply because of the length of the male urethrae tube coming down from the bladder and the enlargement of the prostate gland in older males. And yes, they have to be kept clean so bacteria has a harder job reaching the bladder and causing an infection. (good idea to ummmmm clean down there daily) Also have to take care when swapping out collection bags that the end of the catheter doesn't come in contact with anything unsanitary. Always a good idea to use some alcohol swabs to clean around the attachment nozzle of the collection bag and the opening of the catheter before putting them together.

But generally, long term indwelling catheters shouldn't be too Uncomfortable. But they have to be changed out regularly, usually every 30 days where I worked clinical to prevent infection. When all is said and done, it's all about upkeep and cleanliness.

It's stopped raining and the temp is down enough to turn off the AC. YAY! Have PT tomorrow and Thursday due to the holiday. They gave me 4 new exercises to add to my growing collection so I'm officially up to 1.5 hours of exercises at home. Sigh........
My Dad was really big into HAM radios. I still remember his call id WD4IRQ because he joked that "I are quick". He thought it was so great to communicate with someone who lived on the other side of the world. Too bad he didn't live long enough to see the Internet.

Howdys all, naked people day. I'm happy there is still one thing I can enjoy doing even if it is a little strange to some. I would also like to go to the movies. lol I haven't been in many years. I want to see Superman! Im beginning to think I never actually grew up.
I do hope everyone has a beautiful day.
My sister likes the naked people shows too.

I'll be serving them with a porkless white gravy and scrambled eggs. Yes, yum!
what the heck is pork less white gravy? If its pork less why bother even bringing the word pork up? It sounds like, ya, it had pork in it but I didn't save you any so now its pork less.

My daughter and her family are driving through Missouri right now, just passed St. Louis, on their way to Michigan to visit some of his family. Said they passed through some rain south of St. Louis.
We got about an inch and a half of rain this morning. Guess mother nature figured we didn't have enough skeeters tormenting us when we went outside.

Lots of thunder and lightning so 5 of 6 dogs were either barking or stressing out. Out border collie hound mix, Buck was shaking like a leaf and trying to crawl 'into' the sofa so they all got dosed down with Benadryl and are snoozing happily away.
@microchick you are amazing. :bow
Ahhhh gee shucks, Blue thank you. More stubborn than amazing IMHO. DH told me I need to take a day off from the exercises and I told him nah huh I want to get this shoulder thing wrapped up and concluded ASAP. Doc told me that I'll reach a stage where PT will release me and I can continue on with the exercises at home. One of the new ones they gave me entails using a pully so DH constructed one for me and mounted it in the living room so I can use it and watch TV. I'm not taking the day off but I am taking the afternoon off and just doing AM and PM routines today. I have to be at PT in the morning at 11:30. Tomorrow is officially 8 weeks post surgery. Seems longer. Kirksville, where we have to drive for my PT and surgical follow ups is about 40 miles round trip twice a week. Only good thing about that is that we make a list of things we need to pick up and get what we need while we are in the city.

I sure am glad to be back to our gravel road and 30 acres though. Just not cut out to be a city girl.

I had a dog friend who named his dog AFT. It had something to do with his ham radio handle.

The digital radio trend is interesting. I enjoy one called FT8 where you don't have to 'talk' to people, you just make contacts via your computer. I tell people I spent way too much time talking to people via my work and have no desire to talk to people I don't know at this point in my life. I have a sign hanging on the wall over my desk in the radio room that says 'FT8. Less fun than watching Wall Paper paste dry but more fun than actually talking to people'. I did make some voice contacts yesterday only because our FT8 system decided to crash but one year I made over 150 contacts in less than 12 hours using my computer system alone.

Sorry that you dad went 'Silent Key'. You should see if his call sign is available and get your license/continue on with his call sign if you can.
