Granny's gone and done it again

I think I got snookered... ☹️

Bought this "dewormer" from Amazon, no egg withdrawal, just add to chickens' water every day for five days. Couldn't be easier. Got it today, read the ingredients on the back label. Phooey, I don't believe this will kill worms. What do y'all think?

I think "vet approved" on the front means, "yeah, you can give this to your chickens and it won't kill them."
Ummmm....sounds like an Amish remedy. Guy we bought our farm from gifted us 6 pregnant ewes in exchange for them grazing on our pasture. Within a week they were dropping like flies in the corral. He gave them some garlic and vinegar along with 'some stuff that goes in their water'....Corid maybe. Next week two of our ewes died. Had one of them necropsied. Didn't hear back from the Amish guy so I called the vet who was trying to get in touch with the Amish guy because the flock was so parasite loaded that they needed to be treated immediately.

I got on line and bought injectable and drench worming meds and that weekend in a steady cold rain, we were funneling sheep into our barn and we were worming sheep. Bless him, my husband had never handled sheep before but he dove in like an experienced shepherd grabbing a ewes hind leg and holding it while I gave her a shot.

Two weeks later, our Amish sheep partner informed us that he was going to sell the whole flock and get sheep that were more resistant to parasites.

Don't know Jack when it comes to the difference between resistant and immune.

Still, Blue, looks like a good natural supplement for the birds. Don't think it will hurt them....ain't gonna do squat for parasites though I don't think...

I got it on a recommendation from someone here, don't remember who or on what thread. Oh well, I paid for it so I'll use it I guess. Then I'll get a fecal float and check the results. In fact, then I will post a thread. Because I'm a good citizen, lol. 😉
Hmmm interesting. Maybe it’ll work! IDK LOL

Yep precisely. We had contacted the local home extension's livestock expert and he had sent us stacks of literature concerning keeping sheep. The bulk of parasites are found in the two inches of grass above the ground. He was running 50 sheep, something like a dozen head of cattle plus his horses on about 7 acres of pasture. It was grazed down to the ground and the timber had been grazed on top of it. It looked like a park with no ground cover at all.

The concept around here seems to be, if you have 12 sheep on 10 acres you can get 8 more, same with cattle.

And he wondered why all of his stock had parasites and were dying on him.

Gotta go get my exercises done. PT tomorrow at 9:30 then I see the surgeon at 11. 9 Weeks post surgery today......only 356 more to go.....

Ugh! We have a guy near here that runs too many cattle on too few acres. One or more of his poor critters gets out from time to time and comes over here to graze on our place. You can always tell they are C____'s animals, they look like an ad for famine support in West Africa, or an anatomy lesson in bovine biology class.

Poor things!!!!!!!!

I'm kinda wiped out myself tonight. PT this morning. New exercises to build up atrophied muscles in right leg. It's like taking up weight lifting. Oh heck yeah, I can do 20 or 30 of those, no problem! See? Then after he leaves, your body goes, Seriously? What were you thinking? Now guess what, we are not moving again for 24 hours. Your eyelids suddenly weigh 25 lbs. Each!

So. Good night, all! Sleep tight!
