Granny's gone and done it again

Horseflies, ick.

Had one bite me on the butt one day while I was riding my dirt bike. Saucer size swelling and red. No itching but it hurt like crazy. Funny thing was I didn't feel the bite at all. Strange.
That’s interesting! I feel them immediately usually and move or slap them off lol

I’m so tired LOL which is better than anxious and/or squirrelly!!!!!!!!!! LOL
I am both (the latter ones) tonight 😭🤣 BUT! I’m also happy because I found out my clinician is working the on call number all week so I’m not scared to call anymore LOL :celebrate especially since he also said he could introduce me to whoever’s working next week (he didn’t know who it was gonna be) if we needed to to make me feel more comfortable calling LOL I talked to him for like 10 minutes earlier and feel a little better now LOL still not 100% but… :love :celebrate

This one bit through a layer of thick denim. I've had them try to bite me on my arms and felt it. And I had one bite my horse once and she took off bucking and rearing her way around the paddock so I know they hurt.

Hey kiddo, how's that heat rash doing? Better I hope.

Oh wow

And yeah, it’s better. I never ended up getting anything for it but it just like stopped hurting on its own. LOL it’s still quite red and a bit rough though lol

I've skipped about 3 pages bc of being on the road all day to get my chicks, I will catch up later but I have to ask: how dark do I want it to be before giving chicks to the broody hens?
Dark enough to use a flashlight.

I've only done that once. Had a broody hen sitting on ceramic eggs to keep her broody. Had rejected chicks so I went out with a pin light, held it in my mouth, pulled a ceramic egg out from under her with one hand from the front, and at the same time, stuffed a chick under her from behind. She just settled herself down and happily began talking to her new baby. Did that with each chick and hung around long enough to be sure everything was okay. Happy hen, happy chicks and happy microchick because I didn't have to brood them in the house! Score Score!

Just went out to give the birds some watermelon rinds. There were three does in the orchard early sampling the apples. Little thieves.
