Granny's gone and done it again

shrek, on call doesn't mean 24 hrs a day. It could be for only 4 hrs sometimes.
In a job context, "on-call" means an employee is expected to be available to work, often on short notice, outside of their regular working hours. This typically involves responding to emergencies or unexpected demands for services. Being on-call doesn't necessarily mean the employee is actively working, but they must be ready to respond when needed
Ahhh okay that makes sense. That said, I was specifically told my one of my workers the number was 24 hours. But maybe I got that part wrong, IDK. But I’m pretty positive that’s what they said because the whole point was to be able to call when everyone else is closed or whatever.

yes, it can be 24 hrs but most likely that's not just one person. I don't think that's even legal.

My GC had a pretty ... challenging ... experience yesterday. She was hanging out with her bf and he had an epileptic seizure. It really scared her and she didn't know what to do. He stopped breathing and his lips turned purple. She thought he was dying so she called an ambulance. They checked him out and decided to take him to hospital. They wee there several hours before they released him. Apparently he started having these during his military service but that's all I know. ☹️

Yes. The number is manned 24 hours, like 911, but different people respond to it.

That is scary!

Hmm interesting. He didn’t mention anybody else though, which he would have because he specifically said he didn’t know who was on call next week, and somebody else said they rotate so IDK. But like Granny said, that’s probably illegal or something, so they MUST have other people working it.
