Ah. According to Google AI, hornets are a type of wasp but bigger and more aggressive. Their sting hurts worse than a trpical wasp's sting due to their larger venom sac on their stinger. Nasty things. Cover your soda at picnics, friends!

It does look like a hornets nest to me. Mean litte bugs. They not only sting, they bite!
But..they not all black. Some paper wasps are. The wasps on our home have yellow.

They have some white but no yellow

I couldn't imagine the pain Betty had in her face, the way my hand felt. The first day I have her Benadryl and the next day. Gabapentin. I wondered if it was hard for her to swallow. Her head is really little
I don't want to wear a hoodie to mow the yard but I just may

How is Betty doing? Is she drinking and breathing okay? Have you tried tempting her to eat with some special soft goodies like scrambled egg or cooked oats? I would just want to be sure she is swallowing okay. I lost a Border Collie that way once, apparently she was allergic. She got stung on the side of her muzzle and went to go hide and when I found her, her face was all swollen. Even her eyes were swollen shut. I took her to the vet but he couldn't save her. She was about 4 months old.

Her eye was swollen but she's eating again. Seems traumatized. Wants a lap all the time and is scared to go outside.

You can see why. This pain hit her out of nowhere, without warning. It will take her a while to get over it.

It was. I was young and I really liked her. Wasn't meant to be, I guess.
