Granny's gone and done it again

Pain everywhere Blue Rough day.

I went in the groomers to make sure she was ready and came out and noticed I had left my headlights on. Robert took Fawn in and I cracked my door to turn the lights off when Frosty and Bandit jumped out of the van. I managed to grab their leashes but Bandit was on a mission to go explore. I had to wrap his leash around my wrist and he was pulling harder than I could hold on . I grabbed the van frame w/ my other arm and felt like I was being stretched in 2. It took Robert a good 5 mins. to come out and take him from me. I didn't know I had gotten so weak.

That’s a good way to break your wrist. Never put your hand through the loop. Just let go if you have to.

DH has been taking the Cattle Dogs into the vets and they have a great history of playing him 100% so I went with him today to take Rocki in for her rabies shot and check up. We walk them with the padded tactical harnesses here at home but I told him he needed to start taking a slip collar with him. I don't think he thought it was going to make much difference but today when we were in the parking lot and she started to bulk and fight me getting out of the car, I just got the slip collar and lead over her head, put a bit of pressure on it and it was Yes mom, you bet mom, anything you say mom and she jumped down to the pavement and walked right up to the door with me. DH said, okay, this is where the rodeo always begins and triggered the door. I just put some pressure on the slip collar and lead and she marched right in at a perfect heel.

Dogs are so childlike that it amazes me. They will do everything in their power to manipulate the parent that they know they can get away with it with.

@Granny Hatchet, you can read all the self help and explanations about catheters but nothing beats experience....which is what you are accumulating working with Tom's. Good job! And no problem. I just pointed you in the right direction and you figured it out.
Not something you would ever think you needed to learn Unless you were wanting to be a nurse

just regular. Fawn has a harness
Ugh, they can slip out of those. MC is right, a slip chain, at least, is much safer. People think I am a monster but I much prefer a prong collar. Yes they look like instruments of torture but a dog WILL NOT pull or resist in one. They do not break the coat like a slip-chain can. And their action is natural, when it tightens it feels like a mild bite, dogs do not choke each other, they bite.

Just one of those little bumps in the road that you encounter as you get older. Life is full of surprises.
Not always pleasant ones! :old
