Granny's gone and done it again

Also, I’ve heard of dogs choking in flat collars too. They can play or whatever and get their teeth caught in it and choke. Probably easier to happen with an actual choke chain but CAN happen with flats too. That’s why some people let them wear no collar at home

It sucks sometimes but we wouldn't know the good if it weren't for the bad.

Bandit was choking bad with the regular collar!

I love him, I could never live w/ myself if that happened. My fault for not training him from the get go.

Brew has a martingale lol he also has several harnesses and a flat collar but the harnesses are buried in the closet and the flat he doesn’t walk in. Well, he has it on, but we use the martingale lol
Martingale my favorite. Unless it is squirrel territory, then I use a pinch collar. My shoulders are trashed from dogs

The thing about both flat collars and choke chains is thst a dog can lean into them and just pull. You see/hear dogs coughing and gagging as they do this, but they still keep pulling. They can actually damage their trachea but they don't seem to care. At the same time they are putting a lot of strain on the handler's arm, shoulder and back, and finally, they can get loose if the handler lets go and that can lead to all kinds of hazards - to the dog, drivers, kids, the list goes on. They just aren't safe or effective. Then about the worst thing I see is those retractable leashes! So now the dog is still pulling, but now he's 15, 20 or even 30 feet away from the handler! What good is that?

Ever try a halti? I had to use this for my first Golden. He was a big boy. I found this to be the best implement for him. They try to pull but it turns their head. Not painful for them at all and it works!

I usually pair the martingale with his e collar and he is an angel around squirrels, bunnies, and, most importantly, OTHER DOGS LOL he LOVES other dogs but is usually extremely reactive on the leash because he thinks every dog is his friend and he wants to play 😬🙈 anyways, with the e collar, he is an angel 🤣 the martingale helps too.

I hate retractable leashes lol UNLESS you’re in you’re own yard and/or know what you’re doing
