Granny's gone and done it again

I use dried celery, onion and garlic in place of fresh when I don't have fresh. If I'm making sauce or soup or a casserole I just add it to the other ingredients.
MC I know it is fall here in south Alabama because the goldenrod is blooming not because the temperature is lower. The high today was 93! I won't put the summer clothes away until late October. We will start planting the garden in March next year.
ohh. ok

Anyone ever have to deal with fowl pox? I've read that mosquitos transmit it. Mosquitos got bad from out of nowhere and it showed up in a few coops here. Not sure what is the best form of treatment until the birds develop natural immunity. Very thankful it is the dry type.
I have. Weird really. Last fall about this time I had a little pet Silver Duck Wing bantam boy show up with a bad pecking injury to the back of his neck. Happened literally overnight so I brought him in and started doctoring the wound. It was pretty bad. About the time it was starting to scab over I noticed the dry scabs showing up on his face and wattles. I had never noticed fowl pox on my birds but it was unmistakable that was what he had. I started greasing him up with triple antibiotic ointment and started him on antibiotics. I know it's a virus but he had so many lesions that I figured belt and suspender treatment was called for. I didn't want him to get a secondary infection and the poor little guy's eyes swelled shut so three times a day I was hand feeding him little balls of wet mash mixed with hard boiled egg yolk. DH helped me get salve in his eyes to treat them and he slowly started to heal but it took 2-3 weeks before the scabs finally fell off and his eye lids recovered.

What was strange is that I put a little hen in with him before the pox hit and afterwards went oh, oh, I bet she breaks out too.

Nope. Not a mark on her. It was strange considering how contagious fowl pox are. So I'm still wondering if she was immune and had developed a few scabs in the past that looked like peck marks or whatever. I haven't seen anything that even looked suspicious since Joker's run in with it. I figured his wound weakened his immune system and made him either break out or have a relapse.

@Cynthia12, we were running the AC earlier this week with temps in the mid 90s. It was in the mid 70s today, capri and t-shirt weather and I LOVE it. Next 10 days shows temps in the mid to low 70s. Definitely early fall weather. I'd be happy with it like this all year round.
Nice! We just took our ACs out today LOL well, my family did. I wasn’t home at the time. But yeah. LOL
