So I've been resting more than I should
It's a lot cooler today & dropping down to 45 brrrr
Curled up in my blanket and that's it

And the wind just blew my extension ladder over. I guess it's too windy to clean gutters.

Sooo... Let's talk about Kalmbach's 16 percent flock maintainer. The issue was a concern about too much calcium buildup in roosters (to their detriment). from other feeds

There is virtually zero calcium in the flock maintainer. While this causes me a bit more work load having to separate the roos and hens feed... it's worth it to me. I just have to label the coffee cans "roosters" and 'hens."

My coop is divided into rooms. I put the girls into one room... And the Roos are in a different room. That way each can eat separately.

Time will tell...

Since there is no calcium in it, you can feed that to all your chickens. Just put a dish of oyster shell in the coop and your laying hens will help themselves. All the non-layers - old, young, molting and male birds - will ignore it. They self-regulate. I happen to feed mine a 20% protein all-flock formula and they do well on it, but 16% is adequate.
