oh, and I couldn't do it at the table because there's a short in the light switch so that was standing at the island the whole time.

That switch with the short in it ... is that in the wall? Or is it a lamp?

the wall. Robert took the plate off and said the way they have it wired didn't make sense to him so he wouldn't touch it

Might be a good idea to disconnect the wires and tape the ends off so you don't end up with a fire in there. Robert could probably do that.

I want to get it fixed. I bought the switch a long while back. No one I know will do it. We couldn't find the right breaker
