Well go get it done in writing and pay up front. That way the price can’t go up. Your loved ones won’t have to guess at what you want.. even a simple cremation is expensiveI don't want any of that. Simple cremation asap, toss my ashes out into the forest in front of the house. No monuments, no gravestone, no marker of any kind. They can have a simple service at the church and try to think of a few nice things to say about me if they want. That's it. Don't spend money on me when I'm dead, good grief!
I know. I will.Well go get it done in writing and pay up front. That way the price can’t go up. Your loved ones won’t have to guess at what you want.. even a simple cremation is expensive
Yes. He is thinking it over. We will go back next week and pay. If you prepay they can’t raise the price. His wife that died on New Year’s Day. , they were going to have a viewing but her daughters decided no. She just didn’t look like we remembered her.Terrible. Did he pick one? Cant afford to die anymore. What I did learn is different places charge different prices. Shop around.
It is hard because when the family is grieving I think certain places try to upsell you on things. I think charging you to transfer the body less than 30 miles for 800 is a lot of money.I know. I will.
Not try to be depressing but maybe just write it out on a piece of paper.I'll take care of all this as soon as I'm back on my feet.
I was just talking to the kids the other day about picking out my coffin. I told them which funeral would be less expensive. The same one we used for Scott. They did a beautiful job. Plus reminded them where the cemetery plots papers were. Scott bought extra. I will be buried right by him. I told them they would be buying the cement for inside ..grave liner. So, the coffin, the grave liner, and the price of the funeral services which will be paid for because I'm still paying the 13 dollars a month Scott started years ago for my life insurance. There's about 12,000 dollars in there now. That should cover everything. Plus, I reminded them where my notes are in case I go. I've written some things down to remind them of some money that may be left here and there. Plus who gets my car, all of the kids know who. Plus the care of the dogs. Plus to have all of the kids come in and decide who wants what furniture wise. Not sure they'll need anything. Then of course the places they'll need to call to stop payments, like SS, A place Scott worked for, and Military...What a day. I went with my dad to the funeral home to pick out his package for when he passes on. It was quite an experience. I kept thinking of granny and Tom, and what they charged her. He is thinking he wants to be cremated but still wants a viewing. They charge 1500 to rent a coffin for the viewing. They charge 800 dollars to pick up the body and drive it from his home to the funeral home. If it is within a 30 mile radius. It was really eye opening. I should have. Taken a picture of the quotes they gave him. I can’t remember much more.
Good idea. But some things need to be taken care of legally, like Power of Attorney and Medical Directives. Not try to be depressing but maybe just write it out on a piece of paper.
