Wishing, I drove 3 hours one time to pick up some Ameraucana eggs. She had sent pictures of beautiful eggs. Not really dark blue, but just a nice consistent blue. I took along a dozen blue eggs from my Araucana project to swap her. When I saw her eggs, I was so disappointed! They were bluish green at best but still more green than blue. She wanted to argue about the color and kept insisting they were blue.

When we put two of her eggs in the carton with the eggs I brought, she was amazed. I wouldnt trade with her, so she offered me money for them. And we parted ways. She contacted me last fall looking for more eggs. Her hens had started laying and she wanted more pullets.

Sounds like turquoise!!

The first chickens I got after leaving home were hatchery Ameraucanas. This was back in the late 80's. Got 3 pullets, wheaten, gold, and black based. 2 laid beautiful pure blue eggs, no trace of green. One laid a lovely greenish blue egg. All 3 were more blue than my current pure bred Ams! That's what I'm hoping for some day, a nice blue. There is a local lady raising cream legbars, so I might have to try those. Saw her eggs in the bator, and 90% were true BLUE! Ha! I would probably get one of the 10% greenish. She charges $25 for a pullet chick. That was 2 years ago. Seems steep to me.

I got the most wonderful surprise this morning!! When I came back in this morning the other half said there's something for you on the bed!! Oh I thought what could that be

When I had a look he had only gone out and got me that chicken blanket for Harry

I was unsure to get it or not and was stoping myself spending anymore more money. Harry has a good wardrobe as it is and did I really need another? Probably not but the other half being a monkey and knowing how much I liked it went and got it anyway!! Love him
