x2. My layers are all pretty little mutts.

X2 mine are production except the last few I bought from a breeder. I couldn't tell you a show quality one from the rest. Although I know some look great. My silkie looks show quality to me now but Idk. I love my mutts but I'd like to have a few for show too. I really don't know why. Do they have shows like dog shows? Do you win stuff? I may be scared to do that because I have a healthy flock now and would hate to chance them getting a disease. I'd imagine if you had show quality that they would test to make sure the chickens were free of disease if that's possible. ?

I didn't know anything either, but once I decided I was a sussex gal I read the SOP and joined sussex threads on BYC. I got my birds critiqued and read critiques of other birds. I get really obsessive over things like this, so remembering the faults and things was easy. I haven't gone to any shows, but it's on my -- year plan... Maybe when the kids are in school, or maybe when they move out.

we are gonna keep a few breeder pens of RIR's, barred rocks, and white rocks, or white leghorns.

then we will have a pen with RIR roosters over barred rock hens, another pen of RIR rooster of the white hens

then we will have big communal pen with sex linked chickens for eggs.
