Proper hygiene is something his worker is supposed to coach him on.
You are paying for his internet? His food? All his living expenses? He needs to understand how much he is NOT doing to be able to live independently. Do they have a group home lined up for him? You might consider having him move out to try it while you are still able to take him back if he hates it. Then you have some leverage for showering and driving and working because you are doing him a big favor, and he will appreciate it more. I understand his needs, but I think you need to push him to find what his real limitations are. If he could finish an electrician's course, he should be able to get a job. The school should have helped him with this.
they were trying, he just shuts down and refuses to speak to them. He actually has a good check coming in and draws more then tom and myself. I have fought against group homes because he is a mimic and like you said, capable of more. A room mate is being discussed or independent living with someone stopping by every day. He listens to me more then anyone and I am not ready yet. LOL
