I only feed mine in coop, wall-mounted troughs under nest shelf (pvc house guttering with end caps) Work well for water too, but chooks get litter in the water, so now I only do water outside. Am going to do a feeder that takes 100# at a time and will feed 8 chooks at once. No auto-closer, but could rig one if needed. Doubt rats or mice could survive or hide from my 23 pullets for very long.
