There are a number of items on that [& other] list that are perfectly safe to feed chickens. The internet is a wonderful thing but one of its deficits is the any one can post any thing. The fact that someone made a list doesn't mean they are automatically right about everything they put on that list. Don't see Grape Nuts on the no list anyway.
As to chocolate the wrong sort of chocolate, dark/high percentage of cocoa, can kill dogs in sufficient quantity. Doesn't mean it's harmful to other animals or birds.

My hubby and 2 yr old love them warmed up w/ milk and honey. The chickens love the leftovers my 2 yr leaves for them. I was accually thinking it would make good scratch additive in the winter.

I hate all inclusive "do not feed" lists because they tend to be a bit paranoid and generally no one remembers why half the stuff makes it on the list. Too much of anything is always bad but if one person over feeds something and has a problem it will make it on those lists. Then everyone will keep repeating it until no one remembers the original reason it got there. Same happens if someone just has an idea or theory why something could be bad or if something is bad for another completely unrelated animal.

No form of cereal should really be dangerous for chickens. Too much sugar is of course not healthy and chocolate has been proven bad no matter what animal you are feeding so you'd want to watch chocolate or marshmallow filled cereals. Grape nuts would probably be a pretty healthy treat.

Don't get grossed out by this, but I love Grapenuts with yogurt - the fruit flavored yogurt. It gives the yogurt a little more body and a LOT of crunch. In the warm months, I keep a box of Grapenuts in my desk drawer and yogurt in my little bitty fridge (donated by my boss when she retired). That's my breakfast in the morning when I am at work. (I have to leave for work so stinking early that I just can't stomach the thought of food)
