grape-nuts?

I eat it straight out of the box as a munchy food... the same way I eat granola. Or in my yogurt.
It's AWFUL to me softened, warm or in milk... but straight... not bad at all! It also works well in crumb toppings for deserts, as does granola.

I mixed some of the Grape Nuts in with the scratch yesterday. The rooster went crazy calling the gals to eat the "new" scratch. They loved it.
Don't think I'll be buying it just for them though.

Grape Nuts go down a lot easier for me when I put honey in them. However, it takes some time to get used to the taste of the honey instead of sugar on cereal. This post makes me think about how much grape nuts looks like chicken crumbles! I may have to do a side-by-side comparison.

I think some sort of pea gravel. My goodness that stuff is rough to eat

Funny but true!

I can tolerate the taste of that stuff dry, but trying to eat it is like trying to eat rocks!
I just don't care for the mushy texture of it moistened, although I do eat oatmeal.

I love grape nuts, but not ifs you add any sort of sweetening, or if it has gotten mushy, although I do like it with milk. However I would be cautious about feeding it to the birds as it contains a fair amount of sodium.

Wheat is one of the BEST grains for chickens; I have no idea why it would have been listed as bad. It is MUCH better for them than corn.

I hate the fact that Grapenuts has even a little bit of soy. Might be OK for the chickens but not for me.

I warmed a batch up with some milk for the girls this AM. We'll see if they eat it up or not. It's so cold this morning, I thought it might be appealing to them as a warm treat.
