I have concord grapes and have to move them ( to much grass ) and I was wondering if there is a simple way of just doing cuttings ? It would seem that they should be able to be started from cuttings not ?

Why don't you just lay down some tarps or landscaping fabric for a few months to kill the grass? Were your vines grafted onto hardy rootstock? Especially up north, you might need to start a vineyard of hardy native vines and then graft your Concord vines onto it.

I have tried cloth , mulch etc and unfortunately where they were there is just to much air born seed flowing around in fall so that is why I moved them .I built a pergola that is quite large and I want the veins trained to enclose it over top .This area is more controlled and as such should provide some protection from these seeds .They are a cold variety that we have had in our family for over two decades so hardiness isn't a factor , I just want to trim it back for now so that they can get established and with the cutoffs I thought that maybe I could start some new plants ? .

You could always start some cuttings and see if it works, just don't get rid of the parent plants until you are sure they will take off and produce the right grapes. What have you got to loose?
