Glad she was stable enough for surgery.

I'm not against breeding, but man, there are some idiots out there that shouldn't.

It was 11 pounds when the surgeon weighed it.

Not at all. I see cases similar to this frequently. Not this extreme, but like this.

Pyometra is not rare, but yes, leaving the pups in there that long before medical attention is sought--rare indeed.

@Peaches Lee I apologize I missed your other question from earlier. It was actually not a large breed dog at all. It was a very small pit mix. She was probably only 30-40 pounds herself, uterus and rotten puppies not included.

She went home with her owner. Unfortunately no updates since it's up to him to give her the medication and bring her back in if she survives.

There isn't much you can do when someone else owns the dog unfortunately.

Thank you for this reminder, as there are too many people that need it still. This is something that really hurts my heart. I can only imagine how much it saddened and infuriated the staff. This case is pure negligence. It's crazy how the body tries to keep on keeping on! Did the owner say how long she's been showing signs that she was unwell? How old was the dog? Thanks again

I completely agree. Unfortunately Florida has very few laws in regards to abuse/neglect towards animals. They're pretty much considered 'property' here.

As for age I believe she was 3. Still pretty young herself. The owner didn't mention a timeline, but I assume she was ill for the whole 3 months.
