I have a standard sized cochin hen who gets poopy butt and the flies love her. I trim the feathers away and hose off the bum area. Dry with paper towel and start picking the maggots out with a pair of tweezers. Usually the hose rinses most of them off. After the maggot removal I use warm soapy water and again rinse and dry her off.
Then use Blu Kote, a spray that works quite well. It actually looks more of a purple than blue and you must be careful when you spray or you will have lovely purple fingers for awhile!! This stuff dries up the sores while it keeps the flies away for several days.

This will be my plan for tomorrow - thorough cleaning of coop and behinds. The other birdies look ok, at least the ones I saw today. WIll check everyone.
