Graphic, dog wounds

Ok so I'm not able to get penicillin. They only have vetricyn gel. Should I get that? Or should I stick with the Theracyn I have?

The Theracyn and Vetericyn contain nearly the same ingredients, so you should be fine with just the Theracyn.

Could you try calling Petco or Petsmart and ask if they have any fish antibiotics in stock?

They don't. They said they aren't allowed to sell it anymore because the state made it so you need a vet prescription.

I found a website that sells bird penicillin to add to water. I could try that maybe? But I don't know how long it will take to get here.

My Appleyard was attacked by a dog. After reading some threads I tried to give her a warm bath but it just made her start bleeding. I sprayed her wound down with Theracyn. I don't have a vet I can go to for her and none of our pet stores carry things for ducks. Anything I would need specialty would have to be ordered online and take who knows how long to get here. She is quacking and responsive, doesn't seem to be in shock but is obviously scared and hurting. I don't know how to help her 😭View attachment 2266537View attachment 2266538View attachment 2266539
So sorry about your duck! Try trimming the feathers in the area to make sure there are no puncture wounds, they are small but become infected incredibly quickly and the infection will go deep.
If there is a lot of bleeding that won’t stop, in parrots we will use hydrogen peroxide one that one spot-as a last resort- *only if* quick stop isn’t available, as it’s a better alternative to cornstarch. However if you can clog blood by wrapping then that would be your best bet, get gauze around her tail end secure enough to help clot the blood. Definitely get her on antibiotics as soon as possible. My exotic vet had told me to use antibiotic cream on my parrot when she got bit by another parrot, not sure on a duck though. I hope she gets better soon!

Update: she is doing great. We are keeping her in our bathtub still but plan to put her back out on Wednesday maybe for a bit to see how she does. We also will be "closing" their pond to keep her safe and will get a kiddie pool. Her wounds are looking good, there's been no infections, and her skin is even beginning to clear up or look less gnarly, but does have scabs. Thank you for all of the help and availability!!!!!!!
